Career Development Consultant, Wellington. Job Search Coach and Workshop Facilitator

Career development coach with a recruitment background and experience working with employees facing outplacement and redundancy. Highly experienced in helping people learn how to navigate their own careers and overcome barriers to fulfilling their potential.

Kirsten is a career development coach specialising in supporting people at all stages of their working lives. With a background in corporate in-house recruitment, including running bulk recruitment centres and training hiring managers in behavioural event interviewing, Kirsten understands what employers are looking for in a candidate. She is highly experienced in supporting and advising job seekers through all stages of the recruitment process.

Kirsten has also worked as a career transition coach on large-scale change projects working with employees facing outplacement and redundancy. This is where her awareness of the connection of mental wellbeing and career development coaching began. Completing a diploma in Advanced Career Guidance helped deepen her understanding of career development theory and this fascination of how theory informs practice continues to underpin Kirsten’s work. As a working mother Kirsten has a special interest in supporting women in the workplace after parenthood. Completing a research project entitled “the efficacy of group career interventions for working mothers” was extremely rewarding.

Kirsten has experience of running group workshops on topics such as understanding the job market, self-awareness and exploration of opportunities, CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile writing, and interview preparation. A self-declared lifelong learner, Kirsten gets real satisfaction from continued professional development, most recently in up-skilling in helping others strengthen their mental health through effective career development support.
